Eddig három iskolaépületet zártak be, mert nem felelnek meg a 2014-ben szigorított tűzvédelmi követelményeknek. Az épületek kivitelezője ugyanaz a cég, a Western Building Systems, ezért most minden általuk épített iskolát felülvizsgálnak. Az alábbi 42 iskola érintett:

Joe McHugh oktatásügyi miniszter úgy nyilatkozott, hogy amilyen gyorsan csak lehet, a bezárt épületek közelében alternatív megoldást keresnek, ahol átmenetileg folytatódhat az oktatás. A helyzet sok türelmet igényel a diákoktól, a szülőktől és a tanároktól egyaránt.
